“Hi, my name is Kaila and I have this weird obsession with the Lizzie Borden case”
I’m not weird, I promise. I just am really intrigued with Lizzie Borden and have been for a few years now. It all started back during my sophomore year of high school. I was in this horrible play “Dr. Gorilla” (don’t ask) and one of the characters was Lizzie Borden. I didn’t even know it was a real thing until my mom mentioned it when she watched the show for the first time. After that, the researcher in me spent a good three hours reading all about it.
Flash forward about four years later and Lifetime releases their new movie “Lizzie Borden Took an Ax” starring Christina Ricci. It was an okay movie. I remember being somewhat disappointed because they made it seem as though she actually killed her parents and I just don’t know if I believe that. Granted, my own theory stems off an episode of Ghost Adventures…Okay, maybe I am a little weird.
Then, this past Easter Sunday they premiered “The Lizzie Borden Chronicles” and I had the chance to watch it last night before I went to bed.
I was really impressed! It is definitely made for the modern television watcher, but it was still pretty good for being a show on Lifetime! Christina Ricci is excellent and very creepy. I love how they incorporate William Borden as well. I like how they portray Fall River, a town outside of Boston. It makes me really want to stay in the actual Borden house this summer.
Although there has only been one episode so far, I really like it! I’ll continue to watch until the end and hopefully my mind wont change. Here is a description of the show from the Lifetime website:
“”The Lizzie Borden Chronicles” delivers an intense and fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity filled with scandalous love affairs.”
