On Saturday, August 12, I had my college graduation party with all of my friends and family! It was such a beautiful day (the whole week called for rain but it ended up being sunny and 78!)
I got to spend the day with all of my loved ones and we had so much fun! I feel so blessed to have such an incredible family and amazing friends who all came out to celebrate with me! There were over 100 people at the party at one point and even though it was absolutely hectic and it felt like a whirlwind, I know I am so loved. And it fills my heart!
The day started off with me not doing so well. I was really sick all day Friday and was still feeling a little nauseous when I woke up. It added so much stress to an already frantic set up. I had to run to my apartment in Boston to grab my cake topper (I accidentally had it delivered there) and then had to rush back to start setting up and getting ready.
Luckily, my mom and step-dad are angels and helped me set up all morning and did some things for me while I rushed to curl my hair and do my makeup. My dad came and a few family friends also came early to pick up food and balloons and help me finish last minute touches!
The whole theme of my party stemmed from the colors of some paper straws I bought in the Target dollar section back in June. I have an obsession with paper straws and saw some that had mint and peach flowers on them and I fell in love! Thus came the mint, peachy-pink, gold and yellow theme!
I added paper straws from Target, Amazon and Party City (like I said…obsession) to mason jars I found on Amazon and loved the look of it! I left clear plastic cups and extra straws on the side for anyone who didn’t get a mason jar.
As the start of the party approached, my little Melanie and sorority sister Mollie came to help finish setting up (shoutout to the two of them, they are incredible and I love them so much!) They helped me mix the drinks and finish little things before everyone started arriving.
“The Kaila Special” (Aka Sex in the Driveway)
Pina Colada Moscato (my new favorite drink!)
The Food was a hit with everyone and even though I didn’t really eat (wasn’t feeling good) I knew it was delicious from the little bites I had. We had it catered by Benevento’s in the North End and sandwiches made from Stop and Shop! I ate leftovers yesterday and it was soooo delicious!
On The Menu: chicken ziti broccoli, eggplant rollatini, chicken cutlets, chicken parm, chicken marsala, ravioli’s, meatballs, turkey cheese rollups, ham cheese roll ups, turkey cheese paninis, salad, bread.
The dessert was just as incredible! We had my cake made from a local bakery and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS!! I saw a picture of a cake on pinterest that was white with gold sparkles and drew my inspiration from that! The cake looked absolutely stunning and I was so pleased with it! We also had cookies, pastries, chocolate covered oreos made by an incredible family friend (thank you Chrissy!!), smores and moreeee cookies!
I created a little “photo booth” background on a fence in my backyard. It consisted of a silver star garland, paper fans, and paper flowers. I just taped them on and they stayed all day. Its not the best, but I really love how it turned out!
Other small decorations included a few graduation garlands, more star garlands, and random little things I found at Michaels!
So those are the details of my college graduation party! It was such a beautiful day and I love how everything turned out! Special shoutout to my mom, dad and stepdad for everything they did for this party!
Here are some more pictures from the day!
