Christmas in Eleven Questions

My friend Lindsay over at On The Rogue Again answered these eleven questions on her blog the other day and it totally inspired me to sit down and answer them too! She is such a wonderful writer and I’ll admit my answers won’t be written as eloquently as hers, but I still want to share my responses with all of you! If you want to join in on the fun, make sure to answer some of these questions in the comments!

The Questions:

1. What is your dream destination for celebrating Christmas?
People always talk about where they’d love to go to celebrate Christmas, however I’m totally content with staying home every year. I can’t imagine traveling somewhere to celebrate Christmas. I can’t imagine waking up in a bed that isn’t mine and walking downstairs in a strange place. I’m someone who loves being home for the holidays!

2. If you could host any three people in the world, alive or dead, at a holiday dinner, who would they be?
I’m counting my Grammy and Grampy as one because I can’t imagine spending Christmas without both of them. They’ve both passed away but I miss celebrating the holidays with them so much. I’d also invite Ed Sheeran because I’m in love with him (duh) & Lin-Manuel Miranda because I think he would be so fun to spend the day with. Just imagine all of us singing Christmas carols together!

3. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
Hm, this is tough because I’ve loved every gift I’ve ever received and I’ve been so grateful for all of them. I think my favorites would be the more sentimental gifts my mom always seems to give me. I love everything she buys for me, usually a piece of jewelry or something that says our favorite word forever

4. Favorite Christmas movie?
Another tough question! I have a list of movies I love to watch every year and it’s really difficult for me to pick just one! The classics like Frosty, Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town & The Year Without a Santa Claus are always fun to watch every year. I also love The Santa Clause 1, 2 & 3 and The Polar Express. One of my all-time favorites is Eloise at Christmastime, it makes me so happy and emotional and reminds me of my childhood! Such a great movie!

5. Do you have a favorite ornament?
My mom buys us each a new ornament every year that relates to us. Those have to be my favorite, especially my college graduation one. I also love ornaments that i’ve had forever. One includes an Anne of Green Gables ornament given to me by my Grammy. Another is a Merry Christmas one given to us by Nonna. A lot of our ornaments are from the past, and they all have a special story or special meaning to me. It’s hard to pick just one because I truly believe they are all so beautiful.

6. What is your all-time favorite holiday treat?
What isn’t my favorite holiday treat? I literally enjoy them all I cannot pick one!

7. Most memorable holiday moment?
I have so many wonderful holiday memories! Christmas has always been my favorite time of year and I really cannot pick just one holiday memory! Christmas Eve with my moms side of the family was always amazing. We would stay up until midnight and then all the adults would do their Grab gifts! The kids had their own before. I remember being one of the only kids who would stay awake to watch the adults open their presents! I also love performing in my theater group’s Christmas show. It always starts the season off in such a wonderful way!

8. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We open one gift from my mom and stepdad on Christmas Eve and it’s usually our Christmas pajamas. Then we open gifts from my aunt & uncle and my dad on Christmas Eve!

9. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We spend Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle’s house and then Christmas day is at our house with my stepdad’s family!

10. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes and Thank God for that! I live in Boston so it’s usually super cold and snowy on or around Christmas. Except, the past few years have been in the 60’s on Christmas which I DO NOT LIKE. I’m all for snow and colddddd Christmases!

11. What makes the holiday season so special to you?
Every single thing. I love the feeling of a chill in the air, the decorations that light up the night, the movies & music on repeat every day. I love being with my family and making memories with them. I’ll cozy up in bed in Christmas pajamas and watch The Polar Express until I fall asleep. I love being reminded of the child in me. Everything about Christmas makes me so happy and emotional.
